Mike was born in Kansas and grew up in the mid-west (Kansas, Iowa, Illinois, and Michigan). He was raised in a Christian home and, while his family attended a variety a churches growing up, he was always raised with Reformed theology and Presbyterian doctrines.
His university education includes a B.S. in Aerospace Engineering from University of Michigan, an M.A. in Air Warfare from American Military University, and an M.A. in Diplomacy and Terrorism Studies from Norwich University. In 1997, he moved to Tucson and began attending Desert Springs PCA where he met his future wife; they married in 2002.
His reading interests include ancient history, Old Testament history, military history, and theology. His unofficial retirement plan is to someday get a PhD and teach ancient military history at a small university however he has a few decades more to think about all of the flaws in that plan. His hobbies include playing wargames, gardening, shooting, and camping. He also loves ice skating and playing ice hockey but doesn’t have much time for it anymore. He hopes to play ice hockey again someday.
He was ordained as a ruling elder at Desert Springs PCA in 2011.
