Mission » Growing in Gospel Grace

The principles of gospel transformation take root first and foremost in the church. Therefore, the first mission field of the church is the community of faith formed around the Lord Jesus. The ministries of Desert Springs serve the purpose of equipping and nurturing our congregation in the gospel so that individuals and families engage their kingdom responsibilities.

Ministries

Christian Education

Christian Education is an integral part of Desert Springs’ overall ministry of gospel transformation. Its purpose is to aid growth in the knowledge and freedom of the gospel. We accomplish this by focusing on the foundations and essentials of the Christian life, equipping individuals with the ability to exercise their gifts and training and developing new ministry leaders and officers to carryout the vision of Desert Springs.

Community groups are small fellowships where people apply the gospel to their lives and forge relationships rooted in a pursuit of Jesus. Community groups are more than Bible, book or topic studies. We recognize that maturing in the Christian life is transformational through relationships. Members are also encouraged to use this ministry for outreach by bringing new people to experience God’s love.

Children’s Ministries

The Kingdom of God values children. God has chosen to work through the institution of the family as a primary means by which the treasure of the gospel is passed on. As a result Children’s Ministries at Desert Springs is one of our highest priorities. We want to help children learn about Christ, His redeeming love, and our great need for Him in our lives as Savior and Lord.

Youth Ministries

Desert Springs seeks to engage youth (grades 7–12) with the truths of the gospel in the context of meaningful parental and peer relationships. It is our desire that youths not simply have another activity on their schedule but that they be encouraged and strengthened in the realities of gospel transformation.

Leadership

As a congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), Desert Springs is committed to the form of church government that is presbyterian or representative rule by elders. The minister and the ruling elders comprise the session and are responsible for the governance and spiritual oversight of Desert Springs. Deacons are charged to lead the church in deeds of mercy. They minister to the tangible needs of the congregation and city through organizing and modeling intentional acts of mercy and overseeing the collection and disbursement of ministry funds. The men who hold the office of elder and deacon are called by God and elected by the members.

Ministry Team Leaders are lay ministry leaders charged with organizing Desert Springs’ membership in the many facets of our ministry.
