Mission » Extending Christ’s Kingdom

“[A]nd you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8b, ESV)

And Beyond

Desert Springs recognizes our responsibility to engage the world with the Gospel. We are financially committed to supporting missions locally, regionally and worldwide through our own ministries and through the ministries of the PCA (MNA and MTW). Desert Springs’ Missions Ministry Team’s role is to assist the congregation in being engaged in their communities and to be aware of the needs of the missionaries we support and how to assist them. Our hope is that, in the future, our congregation will participate in local ministry opportunities and short-term missions projects, and that we will see members developing a deeper heart for the lost, wherever they are.

Tucson

Cultural Engagement

Believing that God has called us to be a blessing to those around us, Desert Springs seeks to engage Tucson’s arts, business, professional, and university communities with the gospel in tangible and relevant ways. We see ourselves involved in these areas as our congregation engages people within the spheres in which they work, go to school and enjoy recreational activities. The goal is that the gospel will ripple outward in blessing to the whole Tucson valley. We want to see a growing concern for the socially and economically disadvantaged. It is our desire that our church reflect the ethnic diversity of the city of Tucson and that our spheres of influence continue to expand in this area.

Church-Planting Movement

Desert Springs’ commitment to church planting is evident already through our partnerships with church plants in Arizona, New Mexico, Texas and Oklahoma through the Southwest Church-Planting Network. Recognizing that church planting is an effective way to reach people for Christ and see them mature in the faith, we envision being a part of launching church plants.

University Ministries

Tucson is home to one of the largest state universities and one of the largest networks of community colleges in the country. Reformed University Fellowship (RUF), the PCA’s official campus ministry, has a vital ongoing ministry on the campus of The University of Arizona. It seeks to reach students for Christ and equip them to serve in the church. We desire to be a place where the students can be a part of a local body for worship and fellowship. As a church we support this ministry through encouragement, prayer and financial support.
